We are delighted to announce that we will have two new doctors joining us in August of this year. We welcome Dr David Davison and Dr Peter Hanson and look forward to working with them.
Every 1-2 months, the surgery is closed for an afternoon (usually during the middle of the week) for essential staff training. This is part of a Gateshead-wide initiative and during these times, emergency GP cover for Gateshead surgeries is provided by GatDoc, the service that provides out of hours care overnight and at weekends. The afternoons the surgery will be closed during the next 12 months are:
- Wednesday 11th May 2016
- Tuesday 7th June 2016
- Thursday 14th July 2016
- Tuesday 20th September 2016
- Wednesday 5th October 2016
- Thursday 17th November 2016
- Thursday 2nd February 2017
- Wednesday 8th March 2017
Mean GP earnings 2014-15
As part of our contractual obligations, all GP Practices are now required to publish the average earnings of the GPs working to deliver NHS services to the patients of their practice.
The surgery was inspected by the Care Quality Commission, an independent body that inspects G.P. practices to make sure that they are safe and perform effectively. The inspectors rated Oldwell Surgery as good in all areas and were pleased at the improvements that had been made since their previous visit.
If you have any ideas about how we can do things better or want to get involved in how the practice is run, please ask at reception about joining our Patient Participation Group
A reminder that the Electronic Prescribing Service has recently been launched. This means that in most cases, rather than being given a paper prescription to take to the pharmacy, a request will go there electronically. You should still allow 48 hours for your prescription to be ready after requesting it. If you are unsure about what this might mean for you, please discuss it with the surgery or your local pharmacy.
