Children often do not have a choice about whether they are brought to health care appointments; the decisions are usually made by those caring for them.

When a child is not brought to an appointment we need to ensure that their health care needs are being met by their parents/carers.

There is evidence to suggest that failure to attend health appointments can be linked to child neglect in some cases.

If a child is not brought to a GP appointment will will often be in touch to find out why this is the case, and if any further support is needed to help the child. In some situations this can involve referring to social care for their input.

If your child is too unwell to attend or there are reasons they are not able to be brought, please let us know as soon as possible.
